What does American even mean anymore?
We were raised with the notion that
American meant
Red, White, and Blue
Peace, Liberty, and Justice for All
One Nation, Under God, Indivisible
The American Dream
Manifest Destiny
The American Way
Support Our Troops
But the country is
Red with Blood
White with fifty states of
what the actual fuck
and blue with rivers of cash going
all the wrong ways.
Peace can't be found in a single home.
Liberty is a sick joke because it means
Freedom within society
And yet we all have our chains.
Justice isn't even in our vocabulary because
Police men can do their jobs while hospitalizing
innocent men and women who's only crime was assuming
liberty.
America is one nation with two people who
seriously think they're the only ones in attendance
to the Shit Parade of Actually Fucking Issues.
A Parade that marches under a god who shakes his head
in shame because why are you celebrating when
you have accomplished nothing.
Why are you celebrating when you are less indivisible than
the colon that had been speared for the sake of 2 ÷ 2 = 1
And 1 can only be the end result if both ends of 2 have
balls to acknowledge themselves.
The American Dream used to be a dream of going forward
But now it's a dream to stand still because otherwise
You'll be pulled back and then it's only days, weeks,
Months if you're lucky before that dream joins the rest
of Job's belongings.
Manifest Destiny abandoned it's post as a romantic notion
and left the romance to shitty writers who get more
publicity than people like Tawanda Jones who could
Lose everything and all her hardwork in the blink of an eye
Because she looked away from the American Dream
in order to become a woman I have time for.
The American Way is no longer a way I want to go
because all roads lead to home and
who the fuck wants to go there.
Home is where the heart is but if that heart is
bleeding red, white, and blue then I hope
it succumbs to cardiac arrest after bringing home
the bacon it can't actually afford.
Support Our Troops is a directive
I'll believe in when those Troops
start supporting a country that has
its shit together,
as well as its people
Who lie in the streets, drowning
in the American Flag.

People have become too comfortable with their own lies about the country. People have become so lazy. People have become entirely anti privacy. Everyone's too busy clicking away at their phones to realize how screwed up everything has become.
My great grandfather passed away the night before last. His funeral is tomorrow. I can't even go to my great grandfather's funeral because I know my family will confront me and blame me for everything that's gone wrong. Then, it'll be pinned on me that I'm going to be the reason my great grandmother will die because she hasn't since my kids. I'd prefer to not go to the funeral because I hate the idea of looking at someone in a casket. They look so fake. They are always so dressed up in their finest clothes like they are going to a party, but you know they would never wear those clothes if they were alive.
